Maggie Peacock, originally from Fremont, NC, but has lived many places, calls North Carolina home. “I returned here in 1994 and have been involved in the art community continually. I graduated from Craven Community College where I studied Fine Art and Art Education. My education continued on to ECU and also the photography program at Carteret Community College. I must admit that being a student in the enlightenment years of 40s and 50s is wonderful.
Art has been my interest since my first memories. At a young age I displayed my works of art on the walls of my childhood home much to my Mother’s dismay, crayon marks everywhere. I continue to fill as many walls as I can; only now I use paper and canvas … not just the walls.
My life has been blessed to be surrounded with art, the artist’s community, teaching, sharing, learning, and working in the art business. I’m employed at Bear Hands Art Factory and Framing, formally Arts and Materials in downtown New Bern. My work has given me knowledge of art materials, uses and ideas beyond compare, this I am grateful for. I also have been blessed to be teaching three classes a week at Bear Hands. I have no doubt that I get the nicest students ever.
I consider any day that I can paint to be a wonderful day. I love to paint happy… I paint things I like in the colors I like and this makes my world go round; everyone should be so lucky as to have such a complete passion for what they do.
<The people who view works of art, appreciate art, encourage artist onward and forward, and purchase art in their communities to support local artists are the people who complete the full circle of my world. And I Thank You.
